CSIR LDCE 2026 Notification: Promotion to SO, PS, ASO, and Senior Stenographer Posts
The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) has released the preliminary notification for the Limited Departmental Competitive Examination-2026 (LDCE-2026).
The examination is being conducted to fill promotional vacancies for various administrative posts across CSIR and its National Laboratories and Institutes.

Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility will be determined as on January 1, 2026. Candidates must satisfy the prescribed educational qualification, feeder post and approved service requirements.
1. Section Officer (Gen/F&A/S&P)
Candidates must be an Assistant Section Officer in the respective discipline or a Senior Stenographer possessing a University Degree with at least 3 years of approved service.
2. Private Secretary
Candidates must be a Senior Stenographer with a University Degree and at least 3 years of approved service.
3. Assistant Section Officer (Gen/F&A/S&P)
Candidates must be a Senior Secretariat Assistant in the respective discipline or a Junior Stenographer possessing a University Degree and at least 3 years of approved service.
4. Senior Stenographer
Candidates must be a Junior Stenographer with a University Degree and at least 3 years of approved service.
Important Instructions for Submission
- Candidates must submit the application online through the CSIR LDCE portal.
- After submitting the online application, candidates must take a printout of the application.
- The printed application must be verified by the Sr. CoA/CoA/AO of the respective Laboratory.
- The application must be accompanied by the required Vigilance Clearance Certificate.
- The verified document must subsequently be uploaded back to the online portal.
- No hard copy of the application form should be sent to CSIR HQ.
Examination Centers
Examination centers will generally be allocated based on the candidate's current posting Laboratory/Institute.
However, candidates applying for the Private Secretary or Senior Stenographer posts, including candidates applying for a combination of these posts with SO/ASO posts, will be allotted an examination center in Delhi only.
Hindi/English Shorthand Test
Candidates applying for the Private Secretary and/or Senior Stenographer posts are required to appear for a qualifying Hindi/English shorthand test.
- Shorthand Speed: 100 words per minute
- Test Location: Delhi
- Evaluation: The shorthand test will be evaluated only for candidates who qualify in the written examination.
Negative Marking
The Objective Type Questions will carry negative marking. A deduction of 0.33 marks will be made for every incorrect answer.
