PFRDA Circular: Same-Day Investment of NPS Contributions Extended to 1:30 PM

In a continuous endeavor to enhance subscriber experience and operational efficiency, the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has introduced a significant update for all National Pension System (NPS) stakeholders. This technology-driven enhancement facilitates the earlier investment of subscriber contributions.

Key Highlights

  • Previous Cut-off Time: 11:00 AM.
  • New Cut-off Time: 1:30 PM on a Business Settlement Day.
  • Benefit: Same-day investment and unit allotment based on the applicable closing Net Asset Value (NAV) of the day.

Detailed Summary

According to Circular No. PFRDA/2026/42/REG-PF/08 dated 04th Aug 2026, the cut-off time for the receipt of NPS contributions by the Trustee Bank has been extended. Contributions received up to 1:30 PM on a Business Settlement Day that are matched and booked successfully will now be considered for investment on the exact same day.

Important Points for Subscribers & Intermediaries

  • The extended deadline applies to all categories of NPS contributions received through various channels, including Government Nodal Offices, Points of Presence (PoPs), eNPS, D-Remit, BBPS, UPI, STAR NPS, and Tatkal NPS.
  • Subscribers, Corporates, Government Nodal Offices, and Payment Gateway Service Providers (PGSP) are advised to plan fund transfers in advance to ensure contributions reach the Trustee Bank by 1:30 PM.
  • Meeting this timeline ensures that the benefit of the extended cut-off is successfully passed on to the subscribers.
  • All concerned intermediaries must align their operational and technology processes with this revised cut-off to facilitate a seamless implementation of the same-day investment framework.

Conclusion

This circular, issued under Section 14 of the PFRDA Act, 2013, reflects PFRDA's commitment to building an efficient and transparent retirement savings framework. Central Government Employees and all NPS subscribers can now benefit from extended hours for same-day NAV allotment.
