Jug Jug Jiyo Abhiyaan 2026: Organ Donation Awareness Campaign for Central Government Employees
Introduction
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has initiated a massive nationwide movement to bridge the critical gap between organ demand and donor availability. Through an Office Memorandum dated July 31, 2026, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) circulated the MoHFW's directive, calling upon all Central Government Employees, Ministries, and Departments to actively participate in the "Jug Jug Jiyo Abhiyaan" (जुग जुग जियो अभियान).
This campaign emphasizes that a single deceased donor can save up to eight lives and significantly improve the quality of life for others through tissue donations like corneas, skin, and heart valves. The initiative also echoes the sentiments of the Hon'ble Prime Minister, who highlighted the transformative impact of organ donation in the 131st episode of Mann Ki Baat on February 22, 2026.
