CBSE Environmental Campaigns 2026

CBSE Circular Summary: Environmental Initiatives 2026

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued a circular on June 4, 2026, regarding the observance of World Environment Day and the promotion of the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0" campaign. The designated theme for World Environment Day in 2026 is "Climate Change".

Green Summer Camps

In alignment with Mission LiFE, schools are instructed to host Green Summer Camps from June 5 to June 30, 2026. These educational camps will focus on seven core sustainability themes: adopting a healthy lifestyle, adopting sustainable food systems, reducing e-waste, reducing waste, saving energy, saving water, and saying no to single-use plastic.

Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0 Campaign

The third iteration of this nationwide tree plantation drive is scheduled to run from June 5 to September 30, 2026. Students and schools are encouraged to plant saplings in available spaces and take responsibility for their long-term survival and maintenance.

Educating on India's Climate Goals

To further spread awareness, the circular provides grade-specific educational material detailing India's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). The materials highlight India's commitment to combat global warming, transition to cleaner energy sources, and achieve Net Zero emissions by the year 2070.
