Extension of APAR Timelines (2025-26) for Central Civil Services
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has announced a one-time relaxation regarding the preparation and completion of the Annual Performance Assessment Report (APAR) for the reporting year 2025-26.
Reason for Extension
This decision was made following reports that various officers faced difficulties in meeting standard deadlines due to their active involvement in recently held elections to State Legislatures.
Revised Extended Schedule
The following table outlines the updated deadlines for the APAR process as per the latest memorandum:
| Activity | Extended Deadline | Auto-Forward Date |
|---|---|---|
| Distribution of blank APAR forms | 1st April | - |
| Submission of self-appraisal by Officer Reported Upon | 15th June | 16th June |
| Submission of APAR by Reporting Officer to Reviewing Officer | 31st July | 1st August |
| Completion of APAR by Reviewing Officer | 31st August | 1st September |
| Appraisal by Accepting Authority (where applicable) | 30th September | 1st October |
| Disclosure to Officer (where Accepting Authority exists) | 15th October | - |
| End of entire APAR process | 31st December | - |
For cases where no Accepting Authority is provided, the disclosure to the Officer Reported Upon must be completed by 1st October. Decisions on representations regarding the APAR must be communicated by the APAR Cell by 15th December.
