CGA Updates: May 2026 Notifications
Official Memorandums regarding Examinations, Promotions, and Committee Compositions
1. Departmental Confirmatory Examination for Accountants
The CGA has announced the Departmental Confirmatory Examination for Accountants, scheduled for July 12, 2026. This exam is mandatory for the confirmation of Accountants in their grade.
- Eligibility: Direct recruits with 6 months to 3 years of service as of July 1, 2026. Promoted LDCs can appear if they have completed 90 days in the post.
- Deadline: Lists of eligible candidates must be submitted by May 29, 2026.
- Format: Two descriptive papers: (I) Précis, Draft, and Grammar; (II) Accounting Procedure.
2. Promotion: LDC to Accountant (Vacancy Year 2027)
Instructions have been issued regarding promotions from Lower Division Clerk (LDC) to Accountant for the upcoming vacancy year 2027.
- Quotas: 25% for seniority-cum-fitness and 5% via Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE).
- Action Required: Accounting offices must provide vacancy positions and updated gradation lists by May 29, 2026.
3. Promotion: MTS to Lower Division Clerk (Vacancy Year 2027)
Similar to the Accountant grade, the CGA is collecting data for promotions from Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) to LDC for the year 2027.
- Quotas: 5% for seniority-cum-fitness and 10% via Limited Departmental Qualifying Examination (LDQE).
- Requirement: Detailed vacancy proformas (Annexure-A) and attested gradation lists are due by May 29, 2026.
4. Revised Departmental Committee Composition
This memorandum supersedes the 2018 instructions regarding the composition of Departmental Promotion Committees (DPC) for Senior Accountants and Stenographers Grade-I.
- New Governance: Committees will now be governed by the Recruitment Rules notified on August 1, 2025 (Sr. Accountant) and November 4, 2025 (Stenographer Grade-I).
- MACP: Screening committees for MACP cases will continue to follow DoPT guidelines from 2009 and 2019.
