Summary: 12th International Yoga Day 2026 Initiatives & World Record Event

An overview of the collaborative mass awareness programs organized by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Ministry of Ayush.

CSIR Office Memorandum

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) issued an official Office Memorandum dated May 18, 2026. Under the direction of the Competent Authority, this memorandum forwards guidance regarding participation in upcoming Yoga programs and a world record event marking the 12th International Yoga Day 2026. The directive has been circulated across all CSIR national laboratories, institutes, and units for information and full compliance.

The "Yoga 365" Campaign & Live Sessions

In the run-up to the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026, the Ministry of Ayush is leading nationwide initiatives to drive mass public participation and awareness. Central to this effort is a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), an autonomous organization under the Ministry, and Habuild Health Tech Private Limited. Together, they are conducting "100 Days Free Live Yoga Sessions" as part of the ministry's grand "Yoga 365" campaign to integrate Yoga into daily life.

Key elements of the live sessions include:

  • Participants can enroll in structured 14-day Yoga practice challenges led directly by experts from MDNIY and Habuild Health Tech.
  • Multiple 14-day blocks are systematically organized throughout the 100-day period to maximize outreach.
  • All instructional sessions are broadcasted publicly via the official YouTube platform of the Ministry of Ayush.

Upcoming World Record Attempt

The ongoing 100-day mass program is designed to culminate in a large-scale online collective Yoga gathering. This event is tentatively scheduled to take place on May 27, 2026, with the core goal of attempting a formal World Record.

Ministry-Level Recognition Awards

To encourage healthy institutional competition and enhance engagement across government sectors, the Ministry of Ayush has instituted a formal recognition mechanism. Based on verified participation and registration metrics, digital badges will be conferred to the top three performing Ministries or Departments:

  • 1st Position: योग प्रसारक प्रथम
  • 2nd Position: योग प्रसारक द्वितीय
  • 3rd Position: योग प्रसारक तृतीय

Registration Details & Volunteer Certificates

All staff members, officers, and attached subordinate offices are requested to actively register and join the ongoing sessions. Registration can be completed by calling the dedicated toll-free number 1800-315-7008. Upon successful registration and completion of the assigned course, participants will receive a free "Yoga Mitra" Yoga volunteer certificate officially issued by the Yoga Certification Board, Ministry of Ayush.
