Cabinet Approves 2% DA Increase for Central Government Employees

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners, effective from 01.01.2026. This represents a 2% increase over the existing rate of 58% of Basic Pay/Pension.
This decision benefits about 50.46 lakh Central Government employees and 68.27 lakh pensioners. The combined impact on the exchequer is estimated at ₹6,791.24 crore per annum.
