The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) has invited proposals for the grant of funds aimed at modernizing non-statutory departmental canteens located in Central Government Offices. This initiative is designed as a welfare measure to enhance employee satisfaction by improving canteen facilities and hygiene standards.
Key Deadlines & Eligibility
- Application Deadline: Proposals for the current Financial Year 2026-27 must be submitted by May 31, 2026.
- Submission Basis: Funds are granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
- One-Time Grant: This is a one-time financial assistance; departments that have previously received this grant or already submitted proposals should not apply again.
Financial Assistance Scale
The amount of the grant is determined by the specific category of the canteen:

Objectives and Scope
The scheme focuses on upgrading kitchen equipment, improving furniture (such as fire-resistant and eco-friendly options), and enhancing storage hygiene through deep refrigerators. It also emphasizes fuel-saving equipment and dining space optimization to meet the needs of all visiting employees.
Important Requirements
- Approvals: All proposals must be approved by the respective Internal Finance Division (IFD) of the Ministry/Department.
- Required Details: Applications must include the Authorized Controller Code (Pr. AO), PAO code, and DDO code.
- Restrictions: Funds cannot be used for building new canteens (Capital Grants), replacement grants, or general repairs of main equipment.
