Official Summary

The Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure, has officially revised the rates of Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees. Effective from January 1, 2026, the DA rate has been enhanced from 58% to 60% of the Basic Pay.

  • Basis of Calculation: The term 'Basic Pay' refers to the pay drawn in the prescribed Level in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC recommendations, excluding any other additional pay like special pay.
  • Rounding Off: Payments involving fractions of 50 paise or more are rounded to the next rupee, while smaller fractions are ignored.
  • Scope: This order applies to civilian employees under Defence Services Estimates and those in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department. Personnel in the Armed Forces and Railways will receive separate notifications.
  • Legal Status: The DA remains a distinct element of remuneration and is not considered "pay" under FR 9(21).
