New PAN Correction Procedures 2026

Overview of the New Order
The Directorate of Income-tax (Systems) has specified new forms and procedures for correcting Permanent Account Number (PAN) data under Rule 158(12) of the Income-tax Rules, 2026. This order is officially effective from April 1, 2026.
Required Application Forms
- PAN CR-01: Specifically for individuals seeking changes or corrections.
- PAN CR-02: Specifically for non-individual entities.
Applications can be submitted physically at PAN centers (UTIITSL or Protean eGov) or online through their respective websites.
Guidelines for Individuals (Form CR-01)
- Format: Forms must be filled in English using block letters, preferably with black ink.
- Aadhaar Requirement: Quoting an Aadhaar number is mandatory for all applicants unless they fall into an exempt category.
- Photographs: Applicants must provide two recent 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm color photographs with a white background.
- Signatures: One signature must be placed across the left-side photo, and another within the specific box on the bottom right of the form.
- Parental Details: Father's name is a mandatory field; married women must provide their father's name rather than their husband's name.
Guidelines for Non-Individuals (Form CR-02)
- Registration: Providing a registration number is mandatory for Companies and Limited Liability Partnerships.
- Naming Conventions: Companies must use full names without abbreviations (e.g., "Private Limited" must be written in full, not "Pvt Ltd").
- Relevant Dates: Applicants must provide the specific date of incorporation, agreement, or formation depending on their legal structure.
