EPFO Circular: Foreign Visit Guidelines (2026)

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has issued fresh instructions regarding permissions for foreign travel for specific staff cadres. This update streamlines the approval process for Social Security Assistants (SSA) and other Group 'C' cadres.

Key Compliance Requirements

  • Financial Verification: Regional and Zonal offices must scrutinize the source of expenses and provide a clear certificate stating no irregularities were found.
  • Bank Statement Review: Any discrepancies in funds or bank statements must be clarified before the proposal is sent to the Competent Authority.
  • Travel History: Employees must provide details of all previous foreign visits and their funding sources in a specific tabular format.
  • Strict Timeline: Requests must be submitted at least 21 days in advance of the intended journey to prevent last-minute delays.
  • Vigilance Clearance: Certificates will now be issued in accordance with the revised Employees' Provident Fund (Staff and Conditions of Service) Regulations, 2025.

Administrative Guidelines

The Zonal Offices are responsible for providing clear recommendations for approval only after certifying that all details have been confirmed and found satisfactory. This circular, dated April 8, 2026, aims to ensure administrative transparency and timely processing for staff members planning international travel.
