🎓 CEA Master Class: Your Ultimate Friendly Guide
Everything you need to know about Children Education Allowance (2026 Rules) in simple language.
🏠 The Story of Ramesh and His Claim
Meet Ramesh. He is a hard-working Central Government employee. He has two children. One is in Nursery, and the other is in Class 5 in a hostel. Ramesh was very worried. He didn't know if he could get money back for Nursery. He was also scared that if his Class 5 child failed, the office would stop his money.
Ramesh went to his senior friend, Shankar. Shankar laughed and said, "Ramesh, don't worry! I will explain everything like a friend. Once you learn this, no Admin staff will ever return your papers!"
📌 Chapter 1: The Two Money Buckets
Bucket 1: Children Education Allowance (CEA)
This is a Fixed payment. It doesn't matter if you spent ₹500 or ₹5000 on school fees. You get a fixed amount (₹2,812.50/month = ₹33,750/year) every month just for your child studying there.
Bucket 2: Hostel Subsidy
This is for lodging and boarding (living expenses) in a hostel. This is not fixed. You get your actual bill or the limit (ceiling) (₹8,437.50/month = ₹1,01,250/year), whichever is LESS.
🌟 Good News: You can claim BOTH CEA and Hostel Subsidy at the same time for the same child!
📌 Chapter 2: Is Your School "Recognized"?
For regular children, you only get money if the school is "Recognized." This means it must be a Govt school or a school officially allowed by the Govt or an Education Board.
- For Regular Children: Recognition is MANDATORY. If it's a simple village Anganwadi not officially recognized as a school, you cannot claim.
- For Divyaang (Special Needs) Children: Recognition is NOT always mandatory if the school is aided or approved by the Govt.
📌 Chapter 3: The NEP 2020 Bonus
Thanks to the New Education Policy, you can now claim money for three classes before Class 1 (like Nursery, LKG, and UKG).
Also, if your child had to repeat a class because the school changed its system for NEP, you get a one-time relaxation (help) to claim for that year too!
