Self-Enumeration is a progressive digital initiative for Census 2027. It allows residents to submit household data online through a dedicated portal, typically taking 15 to 20 minutes.

The portal opens 15 days prior to the scheduled House-to-House Houselisting Operations (HLO) in your region.

Step-by-Step Self-Enumeration Guide

1 Access the Portal: Visit se.census.gov.in. Select your State/UT and enter the Captcha.

2 Household Registration: Provide the name of the Head of the Household.

Warning: This name cannot be changed after registration.

Register a 10-digit mobile number for the family; only one mobile number is allowed per household .

3 Language & Verification: Select your preferred language.

Note: The language selection is permanent for the process .

Verify your account via the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

4 Location Identification: Provide location details (District, PIN, Locality) . Drag the red marker on the map to your exact residential building .

5 Complete Questionnaire: Answer questions on building materials , household amenities , and assets .

6 Final Submission: Review entries in "Preview". After clicking "Final Submit," an 11-digit SE ID starting with "H" is generated .
