The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a circular regarding the upcoming 12th International Day of Yoga, which is celebrated globally every June 21st. This initiative, supported by the Ministry of AYUSH, aims to promote holistic health and well-being through widespread yoga participation.

Key Initiatives for 2026

  • Yoga 365: The Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) is conducting "100 Days Free Live Yoga Sessions" featuring expert-led 14-day practice challenges.
  • Yoga Olympiad: The initiative seeks to promote student volunteering and organize a Yoga Olympiad.
  • Digital Tools: The "Namaste-Yoga App" is recommended as a one-stop solution for yoga events, classes, and physical activity tracking like calorie counting.

Suggested School Activities

CBSE encourages all affiliated schools to organize the following activities to ensure a successful celebration:

  • Encouraging students and staff to register for the "100 Days Free Live Yoga Sessions" via the official portal or toll-free number.
  • Organizing Yoga Workshops and Seminars to encourage the adoption of Yoga among teachers and students.
  • Arranging Mass Yoga Demonstrations on June 21st.
  • Hosting Quizzes and Essay Writing Competitions centered on Yoga themes.
  • Participating in MyGov Competitions, including photography contests, reel contests, e-poster competitions, and jingle contests.
  • Publishing Yoga-related articles in school magazines and newsletters.
