The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the official guidelines and schedule for the CBSE Games 2026-27. These events are organized annually at Cluster, Zonal, and National levels for both boys and girls across various age groups.

Registration Process for Schools

Schools must follow a mandatory three-step online process on the CBSE Sports portal to participate:

  • Step 1 - Registration: Register students to generate a unique UID that remains valid for their entire tenure in CBSE schools.
  • Step 2 - Apply to Participate: Specifically enroll registered students into their chosen games; skipping this step disqualifies the student/team.
  • Step 3 - Confirmation: Send an email confirmation to the organizing school at least one week prior to the event.

Age Criteria (As of 31.12.2026)

Age is calculated based on the student's status as of December 31 of the event year. The cut-off dates for 2026-27 are:

  • Under 11: Born on or after 01.01.2016
  • Under 14: Born on or after 01.01.2013
  • Under 17: Born on or after 01.01.2010
  • Under 19: Born on or after 01.01.2008

Financials & Fees

  • Annual Sports Fee: Rs. 10,000 per school, automatically added during Class IX registration.
  • Late Registration Fee: Rs. 500 per student (up to 7 days late) or Rs. 1000 per student (8-14 days late).
  • Accommodation & Meals: Participants staying at the venue pay Rs. 500 per day; those taking only meals pay Rs. 300 per day.
  • ID Cards: Organizing schools may charge up to Rs. 100 per player for identity cards.

Key Highlights & Rules

  • Selection Trials: Schools are advised to conduct internal trials to select their best players and must maintain records and photos of these trials.
  • National Participation: Generally, 1st and 2nd place winners in individual events and only 1st place winners in team games qualify for Nationals.
  • Higher Competitions: Gold medalists in specific individual games qualify for Khelo India Games, and winners participate in SGFI National School Games as per their respective policies.
  • Transparency: Videography is compulsory for all sports events at all levels to ensure fairness.
