Department of Personnel & Training (Welfare Division)
The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) has invited applications from Gazetted Officers of the Government of India for nomination as Area Welfare Officers (AWOs) for the calendar years 2025 and 2026.
An AWO serves as a functional link between Central Government Employees residing in various colonies and civic/service agencies. These functions are official but performed on an honorary and voluntary basis.
- Status: Must be a Gazetted Officer.
- Residence: Must reside in the area applied for (minimum 300 Govt. employees must reside in that area).
- Tenure: Two years (01.01.2025 to 31.12.2026).
- Restrictions: Should not be an office bearer of any RWA or employee association.
- Retirement: Should not be retiring before 31.12.2026.
Willing officers should forward their applications, duly recommended by their Department/Administrative authority, to the DoPT by 12th April, 2026.
ANNEXURE-I: Functions of AWOs
- Coordinating between CGHS Dispensaries and beneficiaries.
- Liaison with CPWD regarding colony maintenance and repairs.
- Assisting in emergency hospitalizations and hospital care complaints.
- Liaison with local Police regarding law and order incidents.
- Mediating in neighborly and family disputes within the residential area.
- Liaison for Community Halls, civic services (water, electricity), and school admissions.
