File No: A-III/12159/2023-24/Accts Dated: 13.02.2026
Subject: Reporting and Accounting of Central Government Transactions for March 2026
THE CLOSURE DATE FOR MARCH 2026 RESIDUAL TRANSACTIONS IS FIXED AS: APRIL 10, 2026

In view of the closing of Government accounts for FY 2025-26, the Government of India has issued specific procedures for Nodal and Focal Point branches regarding the reporting of March transactions. These rules apply to CBDT, CBIC, and all Departmentalized/Non-Civil Ministries.

1. Separate Scrolling

Nodal branches must prepare separate sets of scrolls for:

  • March 2026 Residual Transactions.
  • April 2026 Transactions (for the first 10 days of the new FY).

2. Marking System

Residual scrolls must be distinctly marked as "March Residual - 1", "March Residual - 2", and so on, consecutively up to April 10.

3. Final Statement Date

All Focal Point branches must submit the Date-wise Monthly Statements (DMS) for March Residual transactions to ZAOs/PAOs latest by April 18, 2026.

Important "Cheque Realization" Rule:

Any cheque/amount realized on or before March 31, 2026, is a "March 2026" transaction. However, if a cheque is tendered on or before March 31 but realized on or after April 1, 2026, it must be treated as an "April Transaction" for the next Financial Year (2026-27).
