Mandatory Security Guidelines for PFMS Users
To mitigate cyber-attack risks and safeguard information, the Controller General of Accounts has issued critical security protocols for all Public Financial Management System (PFMS) users.
Core Security Protocols
- Credential Protection: Create complex passwords and never share your username, password, or OTP with others.
- Account Maintenance: Change your password periodically or immediately if unauthorized access is suspected.
- Software Hygiene: Ensure your operating system, browsers, plugins, and antivirus software are always updated to the latest versions.
- Session Management: Always log out manually once you have finished your work session.
- Phishing Awareness: Be wary of messages or calls requesting sensitive data. Verify that the website URL starts with "https://" before logging in.
- Anti-Malware: Install dedicated anti-ransomware and anti-exploit tools , and configure your system for regular scans.
- Browser Safety: Do not save login details for PFMS, Kavach, or NIC mail accounts within your web browser.
Immediate Action Items
If you receive an unsolicited OTP or suspect a security breach, report the incident immediately to prevent financial loss. All systems should remain password-protected at all times.
