Formalization of CSIR Pension Disbursement through SBI
A formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) and the State Bank of India (SBI) on 13th February 2026. This agreement formalizes the existing arrangements for the disbursement of pension and family pension to CSIR retirees across India.

Operational Roles
- Base Branches: Responsible for maintaining individual pension accounts, obtaining life certificates, and ensuring monthly credit on the last working day (except March).
- Link (Nodal) Branch: Acts as the intermediary for PPO processing and reconciliation. The SBI New Delhi Main Branch is designated for CSIR Hqrs.
- CPPC: Handles centralized pension calculations, tax deductions (TDS), and electronic disbursement.
Important Highlights for Pensioners
- March Pension: Will be credited on the 2nd of April or the first working day of April.
- Life Certificates: Must be submitted in November each year to avoid disruption.
- Revision of Rates: Dearness Relief (DR) and Medical Allowance changes are not automatic and must be specifically instructed by CSIR.
