Allotment of Sanctioned Posts of Special Educators in KVs
The Ministry of Education (MoE) has accorded approval for 987 posts of Special Educators in Kendriya Vidyalayas. These posts are designed to ensure effective and optimal utilization of services for Children with Special Needs (CwSN).
• Special Educator (TGT Grade): 493 posts
• Special Educator (PRT Grade): 494 posts
Roles and Responsibilities
Special Educators in Kendriya Vidyalayas are tasked with a wide range of duties to support inclusive education:
Direct Student Support
- Identify educational, social, emotional, and behavioral needs through assessments.
- Review referral data and history to develop appropriate student goals.
- Plan, develop, and implement Individualized Learning Plans and teaching strategies.
- Prepare instructional materials and lesson plans according to Individual Educational Plans (IEPs).
- Develop and implement Behavioural Intervention Plans (BIPs) where necessary.
Inclusive Practices & Coordination
- Support subject teachers in adapting curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment practices.
- Ensure CwSN receive appropriate accommodations and examination-related support.
- Promote peer sensitization, buddy systems, and a positive school climate.
- Organize exposure visits, vocational orientation, and life-skill activities.
- Assist parents in understanding educational objectives and learning expectations.
Financial Implications
- For Sanctioned Regular Posts: Where a regular incumbent hasn't joined, contractual remuneration is met from the School Fund (effective December 2025).
- For Non-Sanctioned Posts: Remuneration of contractual Special Educators is met from the Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi (VVN) as per existing norms.
