📋 Subject Matter
Amendment to CSIR Service Rules, 1994 - Modification of Para 8.3 and insertion of Para 8.4 to provide for relaxation in qualification in extraordinary situations and interpretation of rules.
✅ Key Amendments
A. New Rule - Para 8.4: Interpretation of Rules
Para 8.4 - INTERPRETATION OF RULES:
"If a question as to the interpretation of these rules arises, the DG, CSIR shall be competent to decide the same."
B. Amendment to Para 8.3 - Relaxation in Qualifications
❌ Existing Rule
Relaxation in age limit, qualification and/or experience in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates (both departmental and outsiders) would be allowed with the prior approval of the Governing Body of CSIR.
Note: Relaxation for SC/ST candidates as prescribed by Govt. of India continues.
✅ Amended Rule
(a) In case of extraordinary situations like National/Health emergencies viz. Pandemics, War or any other events declared by Government of India/States/UTs.
OR
(b) In case of exceptionally meritorious candidates (both departmental and outsiders) would be allowed with the prior approval of the Governing Body of CSIR.
Note: Relaxation for SC/ST candidates as prescribed by Govt. of India continues.
