Question (a):
Will the Government implement the 8th Pay Commission with effect from 01-01-2026? Details of the action taken?
Answer:
The 8th Central Pay Commission has already been constituted. The Terms of Reference (ToR) have been notified vide Ministry of Finance Resolution dated 03.11.2025. The date of implementation shall be decided by the Government. Government will make appropriate provision of funds for implementing the accepted recommendations.
Question (b):
Has the Government finalized the Term of Reference (ToR) which will lead to revision of salaries of Central Government employees and allowances of pensioners?
Answer:
Yes, the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the 8th Central Pay Commission have been notified vide Ministry of Finance Resolution dated 03.11.2025.
Question (c):
Will the Government allocate funds for implementing the 8th Pay Commission in the 2026-2027 budget? Total expenditure likely to be incurred?
Answer:
Government will make appropriate provision of funds for implementing the accepted recommendations of the 8th Central Pay Commission.
Question (d):
Has the 8th Pay Commission consulted major stakeholders including Central Government employees and pensioners associations?
Answer:
The 8th Central Pay Commission will devise methodology and procedure for formulating its recommendations.

What is the present status of Constitution and proceedings regarding the 8th Pay Commission? Total number of beneficiaries?
Answer:
The number of Central Government employees is 50.14 lakh and the number of pensioners is 69 lakh approximately.

Will the Government consider grievances of employees and pensioners due to delay in functioning of the 8th Pay Commission?
Answer:

The time by which the Commission is likely to submit its recommendations and time for Government implementation?
Answer:
As specified in the Resolution notified on 03.11.2025, the 8th Central Pay Commission will make its recommendations within 18 months from the date of its constitution.
