Appointment Method

The vacancy will be filled on a Deputation/Absorption basis. Private candidates are NOT eligible to apply for this position.

Eligibility Criteria for Department of Posts Employees

Candidates from Department of Posts must fulfill the following conditions:

  • Regular Despatch Rider (Group C) or Group C employees in Level-1 in the Department of Posts
  • Must possess a valid Driving License for Motor Cars
  • Must pass a Driving Test to assess competence in driving motor cars
  • If the above candidates are not available, officials from other Ministries/Departments in Level-1 can apply

Eligibility for Armed Forces Personnel

Armed Forces personnel who are due to retire or be transferred to reserve within one year are also eligible, provided they have:

  • Requisite experience in driving
  • Necessary qualifications as specified

Such personnel will be given deputation terms until their release date from the Armed Forces, after which they may be continued on re-employment.

Essential Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, candidates must possess:

  • Valid Driving License: A valid Driving License for Motor Cars
  • Motor Mechanics Knowledge: Knowledge of motor mechanism (ability to remove minor defects in vehicles)
  • Driving Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience driving a motor car
  • Educational Qualification: Passed in 10th Standard (High School)

Desirable Qualifications

  • 3 years' service as a Home Guard or Civil Volunteer

Age Limit

Maximum Age: Not exceeding 56 years as on the closing date for receipt of applications

Important Notes on Deputation

  • The period of deputation, including any previous deputation in ex-cadre posts, shall ordinarily not exceed 3 years
  • The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation or absorption shall be 56 years on the closing date
  • Candidates must certify that no vigilance case is pending or contemplated against them
