Overview

The Controller General of Accounts (CGA) has rolled out important enhancements in the Pension Module of PFMS to streamline pension processing and reduce manual errors:

  • A revised e-PPO format aligned with CAM-52 and CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021.
  • An online facility for printing physical PPO booklets directly from PFMS.

1. Revised e-PPO Format

The new e-PPO (Electronic Pension Payment Order) format is bilingual (Hindi & English) and fully compliant with CAM-52 provisions and CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021. It standardizes fields, headings, and section dividers, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all pension cases.

2. Online Printing of Physical PPO Booklets

PFMS now supports direct online printing of PPO booklets once the e-PPO is verified and submitted. This replaces manual booklet preparation and offers:

  • Accurate replication of e-PPO data.
  • Secure distribution of pension documents to pensioners and disbursing agencies.

3. Step-by-Step Process Flow

  1. Log in to PFMS and navigate to Pension → PPO Booklet.
  2. Select the verified PPO number from the dropdown.
  3. Read and agree to the instructions and disclaimer.
  4. Choose the copy type (Pensioner, Disburser/Bank, All India Services).
  5. Click “Show” to generate the PPO booklet PDF.
  6. Download or print via the PFMS PDF icon.

4. Printing Instructions

For optimal booklet quality:

  • Use landscape orientation on legal-size green paper, double-sided.
  • Flip on the short edge and bind with a colored cover:
    • Red for Pensioner copies
    • Green for Disbursing copies
    • White for All India Services copies
  • Number pages sequentially and verify all details, including photographs.
  • PAO signature: ink signature with CPAO special seal for disbursing booklets;
  • Include all supporting documents as per the original handwritten PPO format.

5. Family Pension Cases

The Pension Module now supports family pension claims by a single major child, ensuring seamless processing for survivor beneficiaries.

6. Training & Support

PAO users can request training or raise queries at pfms@gov.in or through the PFMS helpdesk.

These PFMS enhancements reduce manual errors, accelerate processing, and standardize pension documentation across all Pay & Accounts Offices.
