Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2025: Celebrating Sardar Patel's 150th Birth Anniversary
A Complete Guide for Central Government Employees
Introduction: Why This Day Matters
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), observed on October 31, honors Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy in unifying India. In 2025, his 150th birth anniversary makes this celebration even more noteworthy for all Indians, and especially for central government employees—the stewards of national integrity and cohesion.
History and Significance
Sardar Patel (1875–1950), India's first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs, united over 560 princely states after independence, preventing fragmentation and laying the foundation for a united, democratic India. He also established the All-India Services, famously called the "Steel Frame" of the nation, which continues to be the backbone of Indian administration.
