PFRDA Circular: Physical Submission of UPS Requests to nodal offices
till 30th September 2025
The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has issued a circular (No. PFRDA/2025/10/SUP-CG-SG/03, dated 16.09.2025) regarding the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS).
As the deadline for exercising the option for UPS is approaching — 30th September 2025 — this circular provides an important update for subscribers.
Key Highlights of the Circular
- The Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) has been notified by the Central Government vide notification dated 24.01.2025.
- PFRDA has also notified the Operationalization of UPS Regulations, 2025 on 19.03.2025.
- The Central Civil Services (Implementation of Unified Pension Scheme under National Pension System) Rules, 2025 were notified by DoPPW on 02.09.2025.
Important Instructions for Subscribers
- Subscribers are required to exercise their option for UPS on or before 30th September 2025.
- If unable to submit the UPS request via the CRA online system (due to technical glitches or unavailability), subscribers may submit the physically filled form to the concerned nodal office on or before the due date.
- Physical forms of UPS are available at https://www.npscra.nsdl.co.in/ups.php.
Effective Date
This circular has been issued under Section 14 of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 2013 and is effective immediately.
